QUT is located in Brisbane city

QUT Lighting lies within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, one of the four schools of the Faculty of Science at the Queensland University of Technology. Although Science may seem an unlikely place to find a group of lighting specialists, the group began with two dedicated and enthusiastic physicists who were initially involved in daylighting research. They also ran an optics laboratory which has evolved into a full-time teaching and commercial photometric laboratory.

Our Lighting programs are by no means limited to the technical and scientific aspects of lighting. Over a dozen highly experienced professional academics, consultants, manufacturers and designers contribute to the delivery of these programs, ensuring a broad and diverse coverage of lighting.

Our Lighting programs are based on the university’s slogan a University for the Real World as the courses are tailored to meet the needs of the ever expanding lighting industry.

Our Photometric Laboratory enjoys an excellent reputation for its professionalism and superior service, and our research students are highly sought after for their knowledge and abilities.

QUT Lighting is located at QUT's Gardens Point campus in Brisbane's city centre, nestled between the Brisbane River, Parliament House and the City Botanic Gardens. You can access the campus easily by public transport including buses, trains and ferries. The Goodwill Bridge, a pedestrian and cycle bridge, links the campus to the popular South Bank Parklands.
